The Search That Stalled: Finding Regulatory Leadership in a Shallow Talent Pool
Our client urgently needed a Regulatory Affairs Director for a key on-site role in Florida—but their efforts to fill the position hit repeated roadblocks. The challenge was clear: the region had few MedTech companies headquartered nearby, resulting in an extremely limited local talent pool.
Initial attempts to recruit locally fell flat. Hoping to broaden the search, the client posted the role and opened it to relocation candidates, but months passed with no viable interest or traction.
The position remained unfilled, putting pressure on regulatory timelines and internal resources.
Frustrated by stalled progress and a lack of qualified leads, the client turned to Summit Search Consultants for targeted, market-savvy support.
Our Approach
SSC meticulously searched the medtech market for diasporic talent, with ties to FL, as well as considering candidates with a history of relocation to/from the greater southeast United States.
This yielded an impressive longlist of 145 potential candidates who were professionally headhunted and assessed, yielding a shortlist of 12 targeted candidates.
The Result
Ultimately, 3 finalist candidates were brought on-site for final interviews.
The winning candidate was eager to relocate from landlocked Atlanta to South Florida — 5 years later, she is still with the company.
“We had reached out to our network and posted this position, thinking we have seen every candidate out there already. I don’t know how you found another cohort of 10 candidates I want to interview!”
