Global Exposure, No Privacy Leader: A Critical Compliance Gap at Scale
Our client—a multi-billion dollar global organization—faced a serious vulnerability: no formal privacy office in place to manage increasing regulatory complexity, internal risk, and cross-border data concerns.
With global operations and heightened scrutiny around data practices, the absence of a Chief Privacy Officer posed real risk.
The organization needed someone to build a world-class privacy function from the ground up, create a comprehensive training framework, and establish credibility and alignment across departments and stakeholders.
The pressure was mounting. This leader would hold enterprise-wide influence and shape the strategic direction of a Global Privacy Office—yet the internal team lacked the bandwidth and specialized knowledge to identify the right executive to take the helm.
our approach
Our team first thoroughly uncovered the needs of our client’s business through multiple conversations with the hiring team, including the Chief Information Officer, Chief Security Officer, Associate General Counsel and General Counsel. It was evident that this incoming hire would need a strong combination of in-house and practicing attorney experience, with significant experience advising on global privacy and data protection matters (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc). Alongside these requirements, this executive would need to be a strong culture fit, located in the HQ city, and possess the ability to work cross-functionally with excellent business acumen alongside legal expertise.
the result
Our team canvassed the headquarters state market extensively given the legal practicing requirements involved, fully uncovering the candidates making up this niche talent pool. Within two weeks, our team presented a number of QIA candidates for consideration, iterating over the following weeks to further refine the talent pool. Our client had the choice of several qualified candidates, eventually moving forward with a uniquely qualified candidate with over 25+ of experience in this space (this candidate is still in place today!). Our team’s focused, streamlined approach earned recognition from numerous stakeholders in the hiring process, and led them to entrust our team with additional critical search projects.
“Your team has been the subject of conversation! Your support on several of our recent critical hires has truly impressed multiple members of our executive leadership team.”
