Paradigm-Shifting Medical Device Startup
the ROLE
Lead Product Manager
THE CHALLENGE
Innovation on the Line: Filling a Critical Product Leadership Gap
In the midst of a major commercialization push for their disruptive medical imaging technology, our client faced a serious roadblock: they lacked a Product Manager capable of owning and accelerating the process.
As their first-ever hire in this role, the stakes were high. They needed someone who could immediately take the reins—driving innovation, managing complex product roadmaps, and ensuring strict regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate had to be well-versed in FDA-regulated product launches and skilled at forging strategic relationships with KOLs.
But the real challenge? The role demanded a rare hybrid: someone fluent in both technical development and commercial strategy, with experience spanning both startups and enterprise environments—all within a narrow, niche talent pool focused on cutting-edge medical imaging.
OUR SOLUTION
Summit Search Consultants designed a comprehensive sourcing and evaluation process to identify the best-fit candidate. We identified and recruited 187 top-tier candidates with backgrounds at leading medical imaging companies such as Hologic, Canon Medical, GE, and Philips. These professionals brought firsthand experience of best-in-class standards and a proven track record of translating that expertise into success within the startup world. SSC interviewed 45 candidates from this pool, quickly identifying a Shortlist of 9 candidates.
The Result
Our client was thrilled to extend an offer to a skilled product manager with advanced expertise in product roadmaps, new product launches, and FDA submissions. The candidate’s ability to manage complex product strategies and cultivate relationships with KOLs made them an ideal fit for the role.
“After seeing the talent from the large strategics, and the mid-sized companies, I'm so happy we chose the candidate we did. He fits our culture, and our sense of urgency, and his work thus far has been amazing.”
